Also known as "Tailor's Bottom." A not unusual complaint is pain in the region of the ischial tuberosity on sitting. For treatment, the hip is flexed and the practitioner needles the gluteus maximus and the muscles which arise from the ischial tuberosity close to their origins--the adductor magnus, semitendinosus, semimembranosus, and biceps (long head).
For pain in the buttocks, it is important to treat the deep space between the medial aspect of the iliac crest and the sacrum where the multifidus originates.
